I was looking at livestream today, trying to find a balance of video quality vs download speed required to watch; and I started wondering what kind of connection do most people have?

This speedtest site should work for everyone's location :
http://www.speedtest.net/

What's your result?

Here's mine :
D/l 21.11 Mb/s
U/l 2.30 Mb/s
ping : 16 ms

Up: 4500kbps (that's like a bit better than 512 KB/s)
Up: 700kbps (almost 100KB/s)
This is when I'm at the best connection speed. Pretty soon though I might get wonderful speeds of 200mbps down and like 80 mbps up.

I guess that's alright. I seem very middle of the road compared to most people. Works for me!

I totally cheat by using my college's internet, which is like Silicon Valley-style high speed internet.
When I go back home to my permanent residence, the Internet starts to suck as per usual... sigh...

Oh shipwrecksauce
That's much slower than when I did it at 26 October 2012!

Maybe that's why I'm forced to use a proxy server to access these forums? I'm just guessing.

Woo time for another one of these

Since I got this new interweb two years ago, my download woes have (mostly) disappeared, but I can still only barely stream :< At least there's some fibre optic network rolled out nearby, if not quite where I live and won't be for a while yet.

Digging through my GG2 Forum posts found me this, which is what I had for several years prior (or going back even further, dial-up).

Just wanted to say thanks everyone for sharing your results!
I was actually surprised to find that speeds were really decent all around.

I think I'll pick the high quality bitrate livestream, and lower it on request :D
