worked like a charm. Your name is now in the credits, and I'm trying to fix a glitch where getting the key of epicness doesn't play the music, even though the <CMU0010 is right there, before the <IT+0001<MSGFound =Key of EPICNESS=!

I know about the glitch without saving. It's beyond me how it works, because I'm pretty sure there's NO event on the Start map That calls map 68 (temple of the key). Thankfully, it's not game breaking because you don't have a gun. Just reset the game, select new, and start over, and the problem fixes itself.

About the tileset. I have NO idea why it doesn't work, but I have a workaround. I copied the original tileset into the data folder, called Hell1. If you change the tileset into hell1 in sues workshop, it works. Then, change it back when you run the game, because all of the other files (pxa and stuff) are for hell, not hell1. Anyway, it works.

Can you show me the code that DOES skip the "please enjoy this mod..." I'm curious.

I'm off my computer now (yay for iPod touches!) but I'll try that tomarrow (later today) . If it doesn't work, then I'm lost. I'll just have to put an event on the bookshelf in the first room that asks if you want to skip the info, plus skipping the counter. Anyway, a new version of the mod was posted by me in the hell mod contest thread. If you can, check it out.

I don't really see what's wrong with your script, but it's a tad messy, so I'll rewrite just for kicks.

before, you were doing lotsandlots of checks w/ the skipflag, when you only needed one. if the skipflag was set, it would completely jump over event 95, and miss the check their, etcetera.

try this code, it shouldn't work any differently, but it's a bit cleaner, and just might.

I'm getting the hang of it now. Sue's workshop says it can't read my edited tileset (I used a hex editor to change the (C)Pixel to 00 00 00 00 00 or whatever in the exe. The actual GAME can read it, but Sue's Workshop can't. I got it all the way down to an 8-bit bmp, too. Anyway, I'm using a placeholder original hell spritesheet. I added some <FLAs, a few more events, and the aforementioned tileset...

I can't get any skip-flags to work in the beginning of hell, where you jump through the hole and it says "please enjoy this...". Tell me, is there anything wrong with this script?

Basically, after one time of going through the text, it goes to event 97, which fades in the course, and SETS SKIPFLAG 100.

Then, you die, and back at the inter-realm gateway, now that skipflag 100 is set, should do this when you fall into the hole: freeze game input and action, fade out, set flags 1341, 1531, and 1550, then SKIP the <TRA0080:0095:0002:0000, and instead go to <TRA0080:0098:0002:0000, which runs event 98 on my hell map, which in turn freezes game action and input, equip the counter, show the counter and message, fade in, and reset skipflag 100. HOWEVER, all it does instead is go RIGHT BACK to the original message. The only thing I can think of: do skipflags reset after you die and go back to your last save?

Do as you please; I have no problem with it. And mine jumps now too, at least when it hits an obstacle (It's quite a menace in small spaces!) If you wanted I could give you the code, but I imagine you'd rather do it yourself, no? My code is sloppy anyway :|

And the basic modding guide is just a little thing I was working on as a sort of document that people could read before they even begin working on their first mod, it's in this one post here I made in response to a question about CE.

I was also planning to add chapters for SW, ResHacker, TSC, common mistakes, Helpful hints/tips, and maybe touch on Assembly (nothing specific, just what it can do).

I've had the same ones for months now.

You will notice that it doesn't have a SINGLE cutscene element. No people, no explanation, no animation...so I worked around that because I have NO idea how to. The <ANP command confuses me. I need to look that up. *clicks a new tab and searches around a bit...

well...I found ANP.txt but I'd have to look at dragonboot's tsc notes again...

Thank yah! It's all in now, as you have probably seen, although I was a tad lazy in checking for repeat information, it's not gonna hurt anybody.

And, as for the mod, I'm currently neck-deep in TSC, my bitter foe and constant companion. After that's done, I have a handful of neglected graphics edits to do, a (yet again) redesigned title, and a cutscene. THEN I send it to the testers. THEN I fix my mis-takes.

Then it's done! (for the time being)
