also ^ i thought yume nikki was one of them dern chinese cartoon visual novel things that sound super boring to me, why does that look like an Earthbound clone (and thus possibly extremely awesome?)

I think you may be thinking of Mirai Nikki, which is full of yandere goodness.

But yeah, Yume Nikki (and it's fangames) are pretty awesome. It isn't really like Earthbound, with the exception of some graphic similarities, but it's fun nonetheless. It's not for everyone, though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yume_nikki

Even though Yume Nikki was made in RPG Maker 2003, it is not a role-playing game.
Like WD said, it has to be your type of game. I, myself, enjoyed it thoroughly. It's very exploration heavy, and has its weird (awesome) moments.
Also, like Captain Fabulous said, its style is inspired by Mother and Mother 2. I would recommend it to anyone (even if they could try it).

I did not say this, I sarcastically stated that its gameplay was identical, because the only thing it has in common with Earthbound is that it's weird.

Ragnaroq, don't play Yume Nikki. Well, "play" is a strong word to describe how you interact with the game. Just trust me, you will not enjoy it.

I don't know why you'd tell someone who you barely know whether they'd like or dislike a game.
I say give it a shot, it's grim and surreal and not really a game, but you may love it.

I have recently acquired a large whiteboard
when I get some dry erase markers I plan to make a lovely mural to adorn my wall on it

Paraphrasing ragnaroq:
Chinese visual novels - dumb and boring
Earthbound - exciting and fun

I used this information to deduce that he would not like Yume Nikki, so I thought I'd save him a few hours of walking around.

I apologize for going off-topic. I don't have a request for Noxid at this point in time so I will shut up :momo:

funny thing is i actually read ALL ABOUT yume nikki just a few months ago but already totally forgot what it was until it was brought back up again, because i can never remember things that have untranslated japanese names like that, they all just run together to me

but yeah, it does seem like something I'd be interested in because i love surreal stuff, but I also hate "grim" stuff usually, so I'd really have to play it and see

and yeah, i absolutely do not enjoy visual novels at all, but afaik this game is nothing like a visual novel

(also um /cheer on noxid or something to stay on topic!!)

Two requests in one! Sexplosive says "Do something irl" so I did Shiny Electric Blue Tiger's "Soul Sucking Shrimp" on my whiteboard because who wouldn't want to wake up and see that every morning?

The pictures don't really do it justice, but I tried my best to get a good shot.
It's a lot sharper on the actual whiteboard.

Gentlemen, it's been an honor playing minecraft with you. (Plays taps as the minecraft world slowly tips and sinks into the void)
