I thought it would be interesting to see which one is generally preferred.

Is there any way that you could add a choice for a mix between the two? I generally use Cave Editor for level design, Tile type changing, Entity/Weapon editing, and scripting; while using Booster's Lab for pretty much every feature Cave Editor doesn't have.

They are Cave Story Editors.
Maybe it should be moved.
If it needs to move then one of the moderaters will probably move it.
It has been moved.

I prefer Cave Editor in general (yes I think the interface is better!!), but unfortunately the fact that it's as buggy as it is means that it's just less of a hassle to work with Booster's Lab. So, really just BL by necessity.

why do you like CE's interface
do you even have reasons or is it just like "yeah because I use it"

Okay yeah, let me try to go into a little more detail. I'll try to explain this as best as I can but sometimes it's hard to pinpoint exactly why (like, sometimes it just feels better and I can't put that into words i dunno).

Having the windows pop out when editing levels is much more appealing to me. It gives me more room to look around the map (I'd have to constantly compress and expand the level list in BL to do the same in it), plus I feel more comfortable with opening and closing a level window than having to manage my tabs. The tabs do have the advantage of allowing me to quickly switch back and forth between levels which is nice if I'm trying to remember something, but otherwise I do just prefer the additional window.

CE also has the slight advantage of looking more minimalistic. Really it's a small difference between the two, but I prefer the drab, uninspired look that CE has. I probably sound crazy or something, but ironically enough the dull appearance is something I advocate.

I may have missed a small thing or two, but those are the major reasons. If BL has those features but I don't know they exist, then you have every right to call be an idiot (and then promptly tell me where to find them :>). And really it's not like BL's interface is majorly flawed or anything like that, but hey that's personal preference.

This is exactly how I would put my preference if I knew how to express feelings properly. Thank you, Tpcool.

I could just make the tabs a poppable window like the NPCs and tilesets are
but I won't go back on my tacky colour scheme

I used it to implement the 60fps hack for my mod.

I will make it a goal to mod Booster's Lab to make it ascetically akin to Cave Editor.

Edit: Wow this is surprisingly like Minecraft mods, only in a jar. I should have figured.

Edit 2: Why do .gifs make single colored images all bleh. It is an outrage.
