Why did the Egg Corridor explode?

I thought about this every time I played, never could think of a good explanation.
Could Kazuma have navigated the rubble post-boom, or did the explosion take place after he arrived at Egg 00?
Perhaps his hatching the egg somehow triggered the cataclysmic event?

 

I think the dragons hatched and started blowing everything up with their mouth.

 

But why are they corrupted if there weren't any other issues with the egg corridor? There had to be something that screwed with the eggs.

 

If I recall correctly, the blue robot in egg corridor tells you that there was a "large explosion and then it was like this afterwards"


So (if I did remember that correctly), the question is what caused that explosion?

 

A)
Perhaps without Igor to look after the Eggs, as he was taught by the "Professor" (as Pixel said), the system soon begins to destablize and eggs begin to hatch, whether they are ready or not. And bad things happen...

B)
Misery comes after the group, and causes havoc while capturing them. Maybe she noticed Kazuma got away, but doesn't know where; and to make sure he doesn't get what he came for, she lightning bolts something critical and everything chain reactions D:

C)
Kazuma presses buttons while trying to hack the Egg00. Oops... he pressed a wrong button
KABOOM

 

For some reason I always assumed they had brought the core through there and it was too large.

 

Considering that they teleport the core out of almond, they probably wouldn't have to go through the egg corridor; they'd just teleport it straight to black space.

 

I always assumed Egg 00 hatching caused the explosion.
But why it hatching caused an explosion, I don't know.

I'm not quite sure... maybe it's the way Pixel made it, who knows?

 

Ok so remember how after you beat the core the "dark place" to the left is flooded and suddenly the path to the living waterway is open? I figured what happened is that by damaging the core and/or by having to teleport it to the black space, the island is destabilized for a brief period of time, and this shift is what both opens the waterway/floods the core room and also causes the explosion/destruction of the egg corridor.

 

A very good point. There's no telling exactly what might have happened during Quote's blackout/the flooding... Perhaps if the island shook, or became unstable the water would have dampened any effect that might be felt elsewhere... (Thus no tremor visuals for the player.)

I dismissed that theory once, because damage seemed to only appear in the Egg Corridor (right?). But, it's worth considering...

Still, without more visual changes to other areas, I like to believe Booster and the gang, led by Sue entered the Egg Corridor to secure their escape... only to be ambushed by Misery.
And I can imagine Kazuma suddenly disappearing while Sue yells at Misery, "you witch!"

To prevent escape, I imagine she would have summoned bomb clouds, like the last one remaining... (unless it's a figurative destructive cloud, to represent how unstable the area is with volatile gases leaking... and maybe Quote interpets that information ... like that?)

I'm pretty sure that the defeated core caused the egg corridor to explode. It makes sense.

I'm going overall with the explosion from defeating the Core...

 

I think That when The Core was destroyed, It caused an Earthquake, it opened the waterway, and crushed the Egg Corridor, The zombie dragons... Maybe the effects of the Red crystal/Flower/Crown?

Except it was an explosion that caused this according to the blue robot.

 

what about the large explosion the core made when you beat its butt the first time?
