What would you guys think if Cave Story had an online multiplayer version where instead of playing as Quote, (or Curly for all you Curly lovers), you play as another one of the other robot soldiers and you fight the Mimigas?

I would rather play as the Mimigas, and kick some shiny robot ass.

What exactly do you mean by multiplayer? Like, Mimiga-VS-Robot team battles?

I imagine this would be extremely difficult to implement and keep the original cavestory feel. But, if someone managed to do it, I know I'd probably play it all day.

Also, you would play as a robot, but you'd be able to get the Mimiga mask verison of your current head.

 

And upon reading this, I wound up thinking of a Team Fortress 2 style online game, but in 2-d form with certain items having a time limit. And specialized characters.

You mean, gang garrison 2?

Also gang garrison 2 has quote and curly as special characters, FYI. Since you didn't know about the 2-d-ish version of TF2.

What if it was a RTS, like Age of Empires? You can research Sweatercraft (increases armour of units), Red flower farming (access to special enraged units) or Tunnelling (allows building of better structures, and undermining of Robot structures)

You can see it didn't turn out very well.
Thoughts are all well and good, but I wouldn't really give in hope to this, it's just an idea.
Chances are it'll end up buried within the next week or so and everyone will have forgot about it.
Not trying to be harsh, but it's happened before, several times over several things.

Help? Quests, items and their sprites, you name it, and I need it. Except for the CS sprites and any new guns, we already have ~22 guns and do not need more.

 

You'll need Curly's panties, don't forget those. Make it a super rare item, since in reality there should only be one.

You could also make a quest where you would have to retrieve a sprinkler . Although, that quest wasn't all that fun in the original CS. Maybe make one where you have to help sandaime on the farm, since I'm sure there'd be lots of work to do there.

Fuck yes! And btw, is that a screenshot of a working demo/engine-in-progress? Cuz if so, sweet. And also the critter has a part of him that sits slightly underground, about 3 pixels, you should keep that in mind.
