It was never explained, but we know that Misery and Balrog would kidnap more villagers if he didn't get it (according to King), and that King getting the key would hurt Sue somehow (according to Toroko). In this thread you can post any ideas you have, no matter how insane. I'll let someone else do the obvious stuff, here's my theory:
Red flowers, when crushed into a powder and mixed with Pignon juice and grass, make a powerful narcotic, like cocaine. The reason there are red petals scattered around Arthur's bed downstairs is because that's King's stash. That's also why his eyes are tinged red. Toroko takes the key, for whatever reason, and King tries to get it back from her before he goes into withdrawl. Quote unlocks Arthur's house later, but King doesn't notice until Sue gets on the computer with Kazuma. I assume that after tying Sue up and putting her in the cage, he went downstairs to feed his addiction.
So now you guys can come up with some less crazy theories, if you want.

To get to the Egg Corridor. At least I knew that it was infested.

Maybe King collects keys (I did that, too), and Arthur's key would be a valuable addition to his collection. That;s also the reason why he wants to get Toroko back, because she has the key with her. He doesn't know about the key that Quote possesses, because he doesn't really care about the house as much. Or maybe he didn't want to ask Quote to give it to him. Or maybe the Toroko's one is much better that the Quote's one. Anyway, the key is so valuable, King will beat up Balrog just to get it.

For his crack stash, that's why.

Hey, the title says "Why does King need the key?"
It never said anything about why he needed to get into the house.

Thank you for contributing to this conversation with your wisdom. Your are teh wise.
So, here's the actually real theory that makes sense: King was trying to get to the teleporter, so that he could get all the Mimigas away from Mimiga Village and be safe until the Doctor's minions found the Mimigas again. However, the only way to make sure they aren't followed is by destroying the teleporter, which would trap Sue in the Egg Corridor. Toroko (and probably King) know that Sue is in there, so that's the dilemma.

*looks around* Well, since Jacob isn't here at the moment: He wanted to rape Sue.

I may have called King a druggie and an incestuous rapist, but he has morals. He only wanted to turn her in after he got the key and Toroko was stolen.

Nope

Um, King wanted to give up Sue from the beginning, in hopes of saving one of the other Mimigas from being taken. {Hence why he wanted the Key}
When Toroko was kidnapped, it went from offering Sue up to trading Sue for Toroko....

Damn it, that was my idea. Why else would he lock her up in a cage? he must be into BDSM. That's why there's a bed in the basement of Arthur's house, he wants to handcuff Sue to the bedposts.

So King needed the key to chain Sue to the bed?
...But then why would he want to give her to the Doctor? some kinda 3-way thing?

No. He also wants to have sex with Toroko, remember?

It's all a cover up. Nobody could know of his feelings, or his plan would be ruined.

As pleasing as these mental images are, there is another possibility:

King wanted the key so Sue could chain HIM to the bed so she could have her way with him. All in return for some drug money.
