Where Curly's Air Tank is worn...?

Hey everyone. First post from another crazy Cave Story fan, woo.

I know most games for the most part don't have a specific location for the inventory--like The Legend of Zelda and most turn-based RPG games. But I feel certain items in Cave Story must have their own "homes."

To me, the air tank looks like a gun, but I doubt that's how it's used.

I'm mostly wondering because I'm in the process of making a Cave Story-related short Flash horror film. Knowing this would help the process along =)

I interpret it as your average tank worn on the back, and the little thing jutting out of the right is a tube/wire. Since Pixel never tells us, and would probably say "I leave that to the player's imagination" if we somehow asked him, I'd say it's more up to personal interpretation than anything.

And good luck on the flash animation, we have a thread for Cave Story flash animations and I think it would be greatly appreciated there.

Oh goodness would it ever. We're doing a collaboration, and we need an artist.

I can't quickly find the Flash thread. If someone could link me to it, that would be awesome. There aren't enough Cave Story Flash movies in the world.

I think no matter where the air tank is located on the body, what I've already made of my movie is going to have to be edited a fair amount. The air tank being on the back might work. I'll probably just have to sorta wing it and see what happens. XD

It would have taken you less time to scroll halfway down the cave Story Discussion page than to type that post. The thread was turned into a poll, by the way.
And the air tank could be stored internally. That way it would be safer, and it's also not shown on any sprites. Make it so that one must open up a compartment in a robot in order to insert an air tank. It would be sexier that way.
Or platonic-er, if you think of Curly and Quote that way.

I personally disagree, but whatever.

Disagree with... everything I just said? Or just the internal air tank part? It could be either one, but I know which will be easier to draw.

I think it might be strapped to her back just like any other scuba gear.

That's what I thought, too.....
Only, it'd click into a recess or something on her back, since she's a robot and that's a piece of her....

If it was inside her then I would doubt that she or Quote could detach it at will. You don't have printers inserted into computer boxes, so why compact their internals and double the production cost for an entirely optional device? This isn't inspector gadget. In the end it is either an internal or external device, and unless Curly performed a decent mod of Quote's hardware in the time it took for her to fall unconcious while somehow failing to flood him in the the process of opening him up underwater, the core scene made it perfectly obvious that it was an external device.

Hmph. Must be uncomfortable to have an air tank on your back and tie a robot over it...
