This is something that I've just noticed, but why is it that the Gaudis in the shop don't hurt you? But the rest want to kill you? Also, why do the Gaudis have erractic fight patterns when they're on the ground? Also, if Jenka moved them to the Labyrinth, where did they live before? And why are they roaches?

It's Cave Story, duh...

You might as well ask why Mimigas look like rabbits, why Quote and the humans are able to understand them so easily, and why the Island's floating in the first place....

Anyways, the ones in the shop probably have a higher-than-average intelligence than the ones outside {It'd also explain why they're inside and the others aren't} and they already saw how Quote massacred the other Gaudis, so they played it smart and welcomed him....
I kinda liked their errant attack patterns....it reminded me of how much they look and acted like bugs, though....

And maybe Jenka didn't so much as move them, but create them...
She made super cockroaches with her magic O.o;

Still, that would mean, if the player avoided all the outdoors gaudis without shooting them, the ones in the shop would attack Quote.

*testing the mentioned procedure*

OK, the gaudis in the shop is still friendly. So what can the explanation be?
The mod/sequel "Jenka's Nightmare" had the explanation "Gaudi politics"... might there be two fractions, those hating robots with green scarf and the others?

... or maybe npcs can't harm you if they have flag 2000 on!
but that is very quite unlikely, so I believe that they are a completely different, superinteligent, hyperactive race that used to be eaten by gaudis, so evolved to look exactly like them.

Chaba is their mommy.

(btw, anyone ever realize how many posts there are in this section? crazy...)

Perhaps they are evolved mimigas? Gaudis use to eat mimigas, so that'd make sense.

But two things:

1) Why don't the hyperactive indoors race meddle with their teleporter to lead to another location and warp away from their prison?
2) If they look like gaudis, why don't they mingle with the real gaudis outdoors now when they don't need to fear them?

1) because only the person who designed the teleporter could fix it, each one is designed differently, and with a 27 digit encryption.
2) They're vegetarians, not monsters.
=P

1) If you're hyperintelligent, you can figure out 27-digit codes. Remember when the secret behind the Enigma machine was solved during the second world war?
2) I know vegetarian people, and I eat meat sometimes. I don't know any cannibals, though...

1) That was decrypted only after the Allies capured one of the Enigma machines.
2) I guess he meant herbivores, not vegetarians...

Erm?

Well, regardless of the Indoor Gaudi's seeing Quote kill the others or not, they still see him wielding a big-ass gun.
Seeing as how they're indoors, unlike all of the others, and they actually try to communicate, it seems kinda obvious that they're smarter than the outside ones. So they would know better than to attack a dood with a gun, and would rather not mingle with their retarded cousins... :D

And maybe they like living down in the Labyrinth. Maybe they don't want to go back top-side-ish and mess with the Mimigas. {After hearing the one talking about eating Mimiga flesh, I think there might be some bad-blood between them...}
I'd like to bring up the "Super Cockroaches" theory again, as it would explain how they could live off the "Garbage Dump of the Island" :D

Yes, the Gaudi are obviously just big, scary cockroaches. Hence why they live in the garbage dump.
Although I'd like to know why there aren't any in the first area of the Labyrinth.

Yeah, and why are there Gaudis in the last Labyrinth section, despite a huge boulder blocking the way?

If they hatch there, how do they get out? THERE IS A BOULDER.

Since when has anything kept a cockroach from getting in or out?

Dunno. Maybe they can get past the boulder. They're insects, after all, maybe they're super flexible...

So, why can't they get into the first area then?

Why would they want to, anyways?
Maybe there's roach poisoning all over the locked door....

Maybe they get squashed by those moving boulders in that corridor. And that one Gaudi just outside the Labyrinth I chamber somehow got lucky.
