I always thought of Quote as a silent kind of character who doesn't speak unless spoken to (kinda like Zero of the Megaman franchise) i have no proof to back it up though...

his coolness overpowers talking, so he doesn't.

Quote's a confused boy.
Try to understand him, please.

He speaks frequently. We just don't know what he says.

He is more like Zero in Holes by Louis Sachar. Quite funny for one of the novel options for English Lit.

Quote is a silent character, thus he easily takes on the player's personality. I always imagined him as being a little bit shy and hesitant but determined, virtuous and kind.

Quote doesn't talk because his voice chip was damaged before the game started.

As said before, it is implied that Quote talks, you just don't know what he is saying. Same as with most silent protagonists.

Exactly, that way the player naturally fills in his/her own personality for Quote, rather than feeling bound to a personality imposed by Pixel.

Well argued. So you can't make up your own role in a sub-RP genre game?

It lets you choose how to talk to people... Like whether you're gonna be mean or nice, and they both have different types of responses...
Kinda like Bard's Tale.

First rule of Silent Protagonists: Don't talk unless spoken too. Gives a chance for the player to add his own personality.

Nah. Too silent for that. And "Huzzah!" is Balrog's catchphrase...

I like to go with the theory of the player's personality, that also seems to explain the name, "Quote" as if it's quoting your name, at least that's what I've thought.

Quote's personality is decided by the choices you make, that's why there are choices, like whether or not you escape on the sky dragon, or when you bust out Kazuma (by the way he says you must be a really kind person or something when you do that).

You know, it's kinda like Persona 3, if you've played that

If you choose the good path, Quote is a real heroic guy. I think of Quote as being like Link from the Zelda games
