I'm not sure that would be legal... Either way, it's probably waaay too much of a hassle. That's just my opinion though.

the problem with that is that quotes face looks weird and that it doesn't really fit in with the title "echoes in the dark".

I guess his face does look weird. I really like the skeleton dude though (forgot what the enemy is called).
I have accumulated tons of Cave Story pics and sprites from all over the place, so I really don't remember where I got that or if it said who made it. It might have been in Japanese as well, lol!

Here are some other ones that might work. What do you guys think? Besides these ones, I have no others that are even close to working with that title.

These can always be modified to work correctly (changing colors, adding effects, etc)

It's no big deal if nobody likes any of these (but I say the Curly one is full of win!). Lace can always just keep doing what he's doing. As long as the completed cover screams cave story, I will be happy. People must know it is their favorite game being remixed here! Yes yes!

 

The Curly one would be good for a front cover
but its too techno-style for echoes in the Cave

Im saying that the Kanapachi one would be a brilliant back cover with the Track listing.

That Outerwall one WOuld be Cool if it was a lot darker
and if we called the project

We could always have Lace's original ones and some of mine (or another) as an alternative?

Lace, what do you use to make your CD covers? I use Paint.NET. It's free (google search) and it can make amazingly beautiful things in just minutes. Something tells me that you're doing things the hard way..
I really like the design for the back side (orange wavy stuff!), but it needs something that makes it Cave Story related. Something like what you've put on the front cover (outlines of characters). That would make the back perfect.
For the front with the blurred text and the blue stuff and the outlines of characters: My advice is to stay away from blurring the text. The blue background, even with the outlined characters, seems too simple for the front cover.
I hope you don't take offense to this at all. I'm just giving my criticism from what experience I have had. Just trying to help.

Here's something I did about a year ago with Paint.NET for my music:

I would've done things much differently now though (and I am). I'm just saying, learning comes from trial and error. Your stuff is good, but it could be better. Keep at it!

EDIT:
Ah, just realized that you do have an outlined character on the back cover. I kinda think having all of the characters in a row (like when you beat Cave Story) would be cool though to put at the bottom. I dunno, something more defining and something to make it more interesting on the lower part. The top 2/3 is excellent! I just recommend you do something with the bottom 1/3.
Also, with the blue caves on the front. I just realized what it is missing. It needs texture; some kind of detail. Each layer of cave is one plain color. The layers should have variation of some kind to avoid the plain look.

It's not very good (at least not imo) because I just did it as a quickie for fun. Perhaps I shouldn't have darkened it and stuff? I started with taking out the "happy angel ghost" but the rest seemed too bright for the proper mood, so I darkened everything except the moon and did a tad bit of texture effects and some glow that are hardly noticeable.

Anyway, with work, it could be a good secondary cover?

I dunno, I'm just fooling around when I should be focusing on finishing my Access remix.
Btw Lace, for the list, the name of my remix is "Accessing Now..." brilliant huh? lol not really, but my creativeness is a little wavy right now.

I think Lace`s idea is the best so far. In my country music tapes from the`70s&`80s had silly covers like this (good that I didn`t live then!). So if you want a retro look for the cover, edit this picture:

I found a few things wrong with this.

1. What are we getting if you do sell this? I don't think a free copy is gonna much of cover all the work we have done.

2.Do you really think people would buy this? How are you going to market this in the first place??

3. Do you think Pixel would want his music sold by a third party without his permission? I mean yea. Remixes happen all the time. But the only time I see music from someone else being sold is when they claim it to be their own.

Again sorry for late post. Was gone since last Wednesday.

I think that the first cover was fine. Don't see why we need to change it all of a sudden with works we don't know the author of. >.> (if i read correctly)

Anyway, update on the Running Hell remix I was supposedly going to do...well...my PC is broken. That PC had EVERYTHING, which would mean my files, my games and every single source file of all LEAF XCEED Music Division songs. It broke somewhere around the start of 2010. I need to wait 2 more weeks, or 23 more days at the max to get it back since it's covered by warranty.

Oh well. If the project lasts really long, then that's good, but I'm expecting it'll end soon so I guess I'll just look forward to the finished product.
