I'm currently very depressed.  (Partly because I wrote a very long post only to lose it because I went to post it and it said I wasn't logged on, but that's a thing of the past now)

I want to try the Hard Route of the game after having completed the game normally.  I know this requires the use of an item, known as the Tow Cable, which is supposedly found in the area just before the boss fight with the Core.  (I saw it for crying out loud using Sue's Workshop!!(I thought that was an impressive piece of software, by the way))

However, upon going to play the game and obtain the item from the south-eastern corner of the room, it wasn't there to obtain!

This leaves me with a few questions:  ONE, is there some condition I'm forgetting to meet before the item will appear in that location?  If not, TWO, has anybody else encountered this problem?  If not, THREE, would anybody be so willing to explain to me the process of editing the game so that the Tow Cable item appears there (or perhaps simply have it relocated into my inventory)?

Thanks in advance for any input I can get on this!

*checks walkthrough*

Yep...there it is. Sonova.

Thanks for the response, in spite of the fact I've stupidly cluttered the boards.

If you don't want to go back and start over, go back to the tribute site and download someone else's save file.

Yes, it's cheating. Sort of.

You know, it just occurred to me that I thought I was posting in the rom editing/hacking forums, but I see that I wasn't.

I think I'll take that save file option though.

Also, I don't think that there is a wrong place to post this.  In fact, I don't think this should have been posted at all--now where's that delete thread button...

You can't do it, as people have posted in it already.

which happens to be completely false, as I can verify with my unmodified save inside the Refab Building after fighting the bosses that I made when I decided to try beating Ballos with MG/Blade.

Machine gun vs Ballos is fairly hard, though.

Has anyone here beaten Ballos with the Polar Star?
