I thought I'd make this thread since I haven't seen a (recent) one similar to it and because I'll be finally renewing my gym membership soon.

So three questions: what do you do for fitness, what's your diet like, and what kind of metabolism/body types do you have?

Fitness: Ideally, I go to the gym between 5-6 times a week. I go for an hour, spending the first half hour on weights and the second on cardio. I alternate muscle groups with the weights and go pretty heavy, and alternate between running and biking for my cardio.

I should do more RPM and pump-style classes. I once did yoga religiously and became freakishly flexible. Will do that again sometime, too.

Diet: Primarily pescotarian. Seafood and grains (lentils, chickpeas, pearl barley) as protein sources. Garden salads. Noodle and rice dishes. About 1200 - 1400 calories a day although I'm not always counting. Small portions because my appetite isn't particularly large.

Metabolism: Stubborn, difficult to put on or lose weight. Taking weight loss pills to assist.

It's impossible to gain weight, it's just not possible.
That's about it.

Just wait until woody gets his toned, muscley hands on this thread.

You should do your cardio first, then the weight lifting. It's important to warm up the muscles before heavy lifting and such, better for muscle building as well maybe?

I go to the gym whenever my dad takes me, so my frequency ranges from once a week to once a month.

As for food I just eat whatever, and I guess I have a kick-ass metabolism since I don't ever gain weight really. I actually lost 5 pounds last week somehow.

Not a bad problem to have unless you like the particularly bulky look.

Yeah. Technically you're correct, and I do spend five minutes or so warming up before weights anyway. The reason why I do it in that order is that it's more conducive to fat/weight loss. Basically, if you do it correctly, your heart rate is already up and you can dive straight into running/hard biking and get more of a return on it. Although I'm actually not 100% sure if the "fat burning zone" is even really a thing.

I'd worry more about building muscle if I were you/wanting to lose weight. Muscle is not only more dense/smaller per pound, but muscle mass always consumes energy, so the more you have the more calories you will be burning, even as you sleep.

Yeah, you're right. I might try switching it around for a week or two and see how I feel. After all, the reason you just stated is why I focus a lot of my time on weight training in the first place.

I play frisbee as a form of exercise.

I eat veggies and meat, but I'm thinking of whether it's possible to live on a meat only diet (lots of healthy fat intake + eating most parts of the animal, including organs).

Metabolism - weight is stable except over long periods of time.

That's a good diet as it is.

The trouble with a meat-heavy or almost entirely meat diet is that there's no roughage/soluble fiber. Essentially, it causes constipation and eventually hemorrhoids for those prone to developing them. Elevated cholesterol is also a foreseeable problem, because eating too much meat and dairy does that.

Oh and grain is extremely healthy. No grain diets are mostly garbage - people have been eating grains for millennia and they are doing pretty well.

Diet: I eat much vegetables. Soup rocks. Pasta, bread, fat and sweets make you fat.

Losing weight: I can make anyone lose 77lbs (35 kilos) in 4 (max 4.5) months without health risk and with no exercise. I did it and I could keep my weight afterwards. I do not post the diet publicly, since I am not sure everyone would follow my advice on the "how to" which is required in order to avoid anaemia or collapsing. Also there is a wide age difference in these forums, different ages have different needs.
