Cave Story not working on steam for windows 8 beta

When I start up cave story it keeps popping up with a blank screen and a windows error message saying "CaveStory+.exe has stopped working" ive tried lots of different things and cant seem to find a solution. I just bought cave story recently from the steam sale.

Yeah its not cave story, its not working with any new games I get on steam, it must be windows 8 beta.
