Somebody makes a wish, next post corrupts it. Then they make a wish and the next post corrupts it and so on.

But yes, the old thread turned into all the then-newbies wishing that somepony would revive the thread and all the oldf- I mean, ponies-who-had-already-been-around-a-long-time, wanting it to just die until a mod finally had to come along and lock the thing.
Predicting *ka-chunk* as soon as Noxid or DT finds this.
For the record/nitpick: it's "ad nauseam", cultr.
