One day, I felt like getting some Cave Story Beta .mp3's so I could play it in a media player. After a simple, small search, I came across the songs in a thread that lead me to a Doukutsu Uploader link, which had all of the songs.
When I opened up Wind Fortress, I was somewhat disappointed in the quality. At that point, I decided to convert the Beta songs to a better quality.
Here's the conversion:
.org->.xm->.aiff->.flac
.flac->.mp3
I used org2xm to convert the orgs to xm, then I used Player Pro for OSX to convert the xm to aiff, then I used Audacity to loop the aiff's and convert them to flac's.
Afterwards, I converted the .flac's to 320 kbps .mp3's.
So here you go:

Pros:
-Better quality Beta songs
-Amplified for your enjoyment (because some people have been complaining that it was quiet)
Cons:
-Looping is not the finest, but acceptable
-Not all original sounds (take the beginning of Safety, for example) are kept in the conversion of .org->.xm
-White and Ironhead(Opression) are removed from the .flac and .mp3 files because they are too similar to their newer ones (org2xm contributed to that cause). They can still be found in all of the other collections.
So, yeah. Enjoy.

I am okay with having the .flac's uploaded to the Tribute Site. I may convert the .flac's to a .mp3 (with a better quality than the one found on the DU) and/or .aac files over the weekend, though.

Im going to have them on my ipod as soon as the flacs are converted to mp3 format.
I'm a beta tester who spends almost all my time on the PC, so I can answer requests very quickly. As for my beta testing skills, I like to say I exaggerate it but it still pays off.
