I've been thinking and thinking about this for awhile..Why does the island stop falling after you beat ballos? If my memory is correct, the island begins falling once you destroy the doctor/core boss. The Core was needed to keep the island floating, and the Doctor controlled the core. But then Ballos comes in...My theory is that when the doctor was destroyed, he had an oppurtunity to bring the island down with his own power(he told quote to kill him, he'd bring the whole thing down if he wanted) because the demon crown had no real owner. This could explain why the island stops falling, ballos was no longer in control (or alive really)Anywho, plz tell me your thoughts on the subject and if i have any flaws in my idea.Thank you!

Nah.
It's free, just in case you weren't aware.

I think Cave Story is quite capable of giving you mental issues. Just look at some of our fine members on the forum.

This is an old one but I'll explain in detail.

Ballos wants to be free, one way or the other, so ramming the island into the ground will either kill him, or, failing that, set him free from his prison. If the island started to fall when the Core was destroyed and stopped falling upon the defeat of Ballos we can safely assume that the Core isn't what makes the island float. Taking this into account it makes sense that the negative energy was Ballos' magic and that the Core was either antithetical to that magic or was a counterballance to stop the island from sinking in the presence of that magic.

Island + Ballos + Core = Float.
Island + Ballos = Fall.
Island + Core = Float. (but it would make the core rather redundant)
Island (by itself) = Float.

Then wouldn't that mean Core (by itself) = float? We must obtain this floating foliage!

So what makes an Island float by itself? (Magic not a answer)
