ABOUT THE GAME:

CaveStory: Online is a work in progress. Its engine is built from the ground up, and cannot technically be called a 'mod.' I hope to get this game to work, so I'm trying to get as much help as possible with the game. The current version (v0.0.1.8) has LAN-enabled play--albeit not with dozens of glitches-- but is somewhat functional. We have the original CaveStory stock of weapons (excluding the Blade), and our own creations, such as my weapon, the Solar Flare. In earlier versions of the game, such as versions 0.0.1.7 and 0.0.1.6 include character customization, and semi-working enemies. The game takes place before the plot of CaveStory, when Curly and Quote were originally dispatched to destroy Miakid. You may choose between the Robot or Mimiga side, and your quests and availible weapons are unique for each. The final version will hopefully feature real-time PvP, many levels, shops, and tons of quests. I'm still trying to get my GameMaker to work, so any help would be appreciated. I don't know much about coding other than a bit of C++, but I've been working on the game with the help of my friend. He passed the coding 'torch' on to me because he can no longer work on the game. Seeing as it is going to be an online game, no it will not be open-source.

I would like to point out that Quote and Curly were sent out to destroy the crown, not Miakid. Miakid just happened to get to it first.

Something for those who're wondering: The game is apparently being built with Game Maker. Yeah, I don't know why. I'm not sure of the specifics of what Hollow Blu got done, but at least they're not using drag-and-drop.

(I suppose if I really wanted to make him angry, I could link to the 0.0.1.8 .GMK source, as I have no use for it, but I'm not going to because that would probably have negative reciprocations down the road.)
