I understand that, but imagine "if" I prefered the old system. You've just changed all of my current 3000+ posts to the new system just by switching around tag names. I don't want to find out that [strike] one day stopped crossing out text and started to colour text purple. Nor do I want to find out that [youtube] started requiring the full url and that all other youtube videos are now broken.
I guess it doesn't really matter though.
p.s. Can I have a [hide] button at least?
I understand the point you're trying to make, and that's why I said that about opening a poll. Since the opinion of the entire forum is better than the opinion of just you or I.
You would have to talk to someone with database access about adding a hide button.
Based on the idea that the new spolier tag is for removing a section of a post from automatic view for whatever reason then you could end up with a long list of potential tags that may better describe the action than either /spoiler or /hide.
Well, it's just that spoiler and hide are the most commonly used tags. I could come up with at least 10 different names for the tags.
I suppose /obfuscate is out of the question?
I don't think many people would enjoy typing [obfuscate][/obfuscate] each time. And honestly, I don't think many people would even know what obfuscate means without the use of google.
Thus the logical thing to do is to open a poll and find out what the forum's members want.
The poll will close at the end of the month to give people time to think about things.
Maybe an Announcement that ends on July 31st also since people will know their vote is needed?
