#5: A Game With a Kitty 2: Darkside Adventures
Ok, so to start off the lineup, here we have a game made by origamihero. In AGWaK2: DA, you play as the arch-chancelor, who is inexplicably blue, to the king, who is a darker blue. And round-ish. The princess's crown was stolen by the duke or something, he looks like a monkey and wears a green Pope hat. And so while he's off trying to harness a star or something crazy like that, you have to go get back that crown, so you can get back to the vacation you were in the middle of when the king so rudely interrupted you. It's get some nice music, and while the physics might be a couple smidges off, It's still a pretty nice experience.
#4: Bonesaw: The Game!
Now here's a game that I wouldn't even have to put here for people to find it. Probably one of the most talked about freeware games EVER, Bonesaw: The Game!, made by Kyle Pulver, thrusts you into the role of a lone hockey player from the Golden Knights team. It seems the evil ref "M" (or "Evil Ref M", I don't know, all the text is in caps) has kidnapped the rest of the Golden Knights. Now you must track him down over land, sea, ice, lava, sky, and even through space, all the while crushing your foes like cockroaches. Every zone has a boss, (except for a stand-alone level on an island. It's just there.) ultimately leading up to (e/E)vil (r/R)ef M himself. The true challenge, though, is completing all the achievements on the main menu. One of the secrets is a tribute to a game right here in my list ^.^
#3: Cave Story
Ok, I'll admit it: Cave story is NOT the best game I've ever played. This really requires no explanation. If you want to know more about the game, check out the Cave Story tribute site.
#2: Lyle in Cube Sector
My god. THIS IS WHAT ALL GAMES SHOULD BE!! A nearly perfect game by Bogosoft, though some would describe it as "UGH!! WHY THE F*CK IS THIS SO HARD?!?! F*CK THIS GAME!!!" You play Lyle, whose kitty has been stolen by a mysterious cloaked figure. Apparently Lyle never learned why not to let a cat sleep outside. Now you, as Lyle, must travel through the 'wonked-out lands of the Cube Sector' to find and rescue your kitty!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!....... *Ahem* The Cube Sector is so called because of the cubes scattered all around, juts waiting to be thrown at enemies. But... what's this?! You can't attack when you first start the game! That's right: the basic attack must be learned by collecting a power-up orb thingy. Once that's done, you throw the cubes at enemies to kill them. Different enemies take more or less hits to kill, depending. Along the way to finding the cloaked figure, you'll find other power-ups, mainly after the two boss fights, which both give ability power-ups. But there are also power power-ups, which increase your HP bar or CP power. 'What is CP' you ask? Well, play the game and find out, I'm not handing out spoilers!
#1: An Untitled Story
My number one pick, and rightfully so. In An Untitled Story, you play an egg, who has gained consciousness. Unfortunately, you can't hatch. That won't stop you from exploring your surroundings, though. As you gain powers and collect hearts to add to your max health, a sinister plot pieces itself together, and you ultimately end up fighting an evil that has pulled the strings of this world for far too long. Along the way, you'll meet other birds (yes, you're a bird... after you hatch.) who might be able to help you. As you kill enemies and bosses, you will gain crystals that can be used to buy items or pass toll gates. There are many secrets in this game, And I dare you to get 100%
So that's my lineup. Hope you like these games if you haven't already played them.
