I just wonder, who would name their child Misery? Jenka couldn't have known she would become the way she is today, so why give your child such an emo and evil name? Maybe it's not her real name and she changed it due to a teenage phase and wanted to rebel against society because she's ttly gpffik?!

Maybe on the island, the word (or name) 'Misery' isn't quite as bad as we consider it to be. Misery could be a common name for witches in the Cave Story universe!

Jenka has always seemed more knowledgable than the average, in a way. She never really panicks (except after being violat- I mean, robbed off her key by Balrog).
It may be the perfect cliché of the old person who has been through a lot of things, but she might also have something else that allows her to be this calm...
Perhaps SHE CAN SEE THE FUTURE randomly and for briefs amounts of time, and she saw that Misery was going to become a bad person (because of the Crown, yes, but Jenka did not see that) and thus she named her child Misery.

I actually made a Wild Mass Guessing post on TvT on this.
As to what I gave her as her real name, I have that come up in a story which has been... in-progress for years.
"Misery" is not her real name.
Oh sure, that's what nearly everyone calls her. But Jenka, her mother, never calls her Misery (or by name, either). Chances are that Misery is a nickname based on her state of life since the Demon Crown was made, that was given to her by either Ballos or the first crown bearer and stuck fast.
As to what I gave her as her real name, I have that come up in a story which has been... in-progress for years.
King's Theme = White [Stone] Wall. Yep, it has a title!
