I got some weird sprite issue with my health bars, this issue happens in regular cave story, and cave story mods. The health bar when damaged doesnt visually decrease its lenght, but the number does.
This makes it difficult to know my maximum health.
note that upper picture I am in full health, but in lower one I got bit damaged. Health bars dont change.

Yeah this isn't a "weird sprite" issue so much as it is a "you should get your eyes checked" issue.

Yeah, see, in Cave Story, your health bar doesnt actually get shorter, but the bright red part does. See how in the second picture, the bar isn't completely bright red? That shows you at about half health.

Oh, how embarrassing, I had set up too much of "color-something" (dunno whats its called in english) in my NVIDIA-control panel, that showed them as same color. 
I also wasnt able to see the heart.

Before this gets locked, I have to admit that I thought this was a spam topic about your issue with health-bars. Good to see your problem was fixed.
I think Cave Story is quite capable of giving you mental issues. Just look at some of our fine members on the forum.
