Cave Story+ Crash/Requires a Hard Reset

Just bought Cave Story+ on Steam, great game, but it crashes forcing me to reset my computer.

Is this a known problem? I can't find any answers anywhere.


Specs.

Win 7

Phenom 2 x4 970 BE 3.5Ghz

8GB Ram - Running fine ran a mem test.

Radeon HD 6970 latest drivers

Does it crash at a particular point in the game, upon startup, or is it just random?
