Uh, you can set your default skin in the user control panel. Under "Settings and Options", click on "Edit Options" and scroll down to the bottom of the page.Just save your bookmark as the URL it gives you after switching skins.
Perhaps this is one of the cases where the image was missing on the original forum and the alt-text was showing instead, like the multiquote button.There's also a big chunk of text saying "view first unread" that does the same thing o:
