We now have a new Spoiler that you can simply use by placing the spoiler tags, [ spoiler][ /spoiler] without the spaces of course, around what you want to spoil.

Example:

Spoiler

But if you don't like the new spoiler system and you still want to use the old one don't fret because you can still use it by simply using the hide tags, [ hide][ /hide] without the spaces of course, around what you want to hide.

Example:

Hidden text highlight to view:
Crouching Forum, Hidden Text

Enjoy~

I approve of the idea, but.. the old one should be [spoiler] and the new one [hide], else you are forcing every prior spoiler tag to become the new one. Also, the new one is for hiding or compacting stuff, not just for spoilers. The old one only obscures plain text and is made only for spoilers, though it is most likely more reliable/compatible.

In short, can you please by any chance switch around the tag names?

I only did that because it makes much more sense for the new one to be called spoiler and the old one to be called hide.

Plus, there are a lot of long posts around the forum which look much better inside the new spoiler.

Like this one:

http://cavestory.org...5&postcount=385

However, if either SkyeWelse or Shirofan think they should be changed around they can go ahead and do so. Or if the people of the forum what them changed around I will.

But otherwise I think it works this way much, much better.

Thanks for the input though~

I understand that, but imagine "if" I prefered the old system. You've just changed all of my current 3000+ posts to the new system just by switching around tag names. I don't want to find out that [strike] one day stopped crossing out text and started to colour text purple. Nor do I want to find out that [youtube] started requiring the full url and that all other youtube videos are now broken.

I guess it doesn't really matter though.

p.s. Can I have a [hide] button at least?

Based on the idea that the new spolier tag is for removing a section of a post from automatic view for whatever reason then you could end up with a long list of potential tags that may better describe the action than either /spoiler or /hide.

I suppose /obfuscate is out of the question?

My opinion is not actually relevant here, even if the old spoiler tag was my doing as a stopgap measure; what really counts is the opinions of those who will use the tags and which way around they think they should be arranged.

Thus the logical thing to do is to open a poll and find out what the forum's members want.
The poll will close at the end of the month to give people time to think about things.

I understand the point you're trying to make, and that's why I said that about opening a poll. Since the opinion of the entire forum is better than the opinion of just you or I.

You would have to talk to someone with database access about adding a hide button.

Based on the idea that the new spolier tag is for removing a section of a post from automatic view for whatever reason then you could end up with a long list of potential tags that may better describe the action than either /spoiler or /hide.

Well, it's just that spoiler and hide are the most commonly used tags. I could come up with at least 10 different names for the tags.

I suppose /obfuscate is out of the question?

I don't think many people would enjoy typing [obfuscate][/obfuscate] each time. And honestly, I don't think many people would even know what obfuscate means without the use of google.

Thus the logical thing to do is to open a poll and find out what the forum's members want.
The poll will close at the end of the month to give people time to think about things.

Maybe an Announcement that ends on July 31st also since people will know their vote is needed?

Hiya.
I'm just thinking...
I like the new spoilers, and I think they should be kept as the spoiler tag.
But rather than hide, why not name it "Doom"?
:3
(Ya know, doom text.)
But if possible, change the colors to something less migrain-inducing, preferably something that doesn't clash so badly with the forum styles but also that isn't invisble.

The use of the red was originally accidental, but served a purpose in that it looks equally out of place in all forum styles; it is a very unlikely choice of colour for a background because it would dominate any text colour selected.

However if you have any suggestions as to alternative colours that would work on both dark and pale backgrounds then we are open to suggestions.

Slightly Dark-ish Green? :D
The text colour one isn't too hard to read on light or dark backgrounds...

Hmmm...
Maybe something along the lines of #a0a0a0 for the BG and black for text?
